Excellerate

We decided to do athletic footwear and come out with a new cross training shoe called "Excellerate." We gave it this name because to excel is to surpass other or be superior in some respect and to accelerate is to move or go faster and combine the two and you have Excellerate.

The Excellerate is a lime green/yellow colored shoe that glows as you fly down the track in a track meet or when your just out running through the city for a nice workout. Some of its features include spring loaded heels, futuristic style/look, comfortable, and gives you an edge in speed and agility. Also some of the most popular athletes today train in Excellerate's. For Example, basketball player Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and soccer star David Beckham of the LA Galaxy both who do their off season conditioning in Excellerate's.

Our strategies for advertising our new shoe are to show our commercials during the upcoming Olympics. The commercial will feature both stars Kobe and David in it. Kobe will be running on the street through the mountains in the rain with the camera focused on the shoes. David will be playing on the soccer field making all kinds of spectacular plays with the Excellerate shoe on. We also will advertise Excellerate by having Kobe advertise the shoe when he gets interviewed on "SportsCenter" after his next game by showing the shoe and saying it is the reason for his recent success on the court.

I love the name of your shoe. Not only is appropriate and catchy, it describs everything that an athleic shoe should do. I'm sold already, but the advertising works well too. I like the idea of stars training with them in the off-season and I think a funny commercial for it could be just the flash of green blazing through the mountains as Kobe "Excellerates." This could even be a slogan: get the green flash or catch the green flash. It implies money and speed, which is what sports are all about these days. Just a thought. Anyway, my only question would be with choosing Kobe and David together. They play somewhat different sports, so are the shoes geared towards increasing speed on any field or improved training in the off-season? Either way would work fine, I would just like a little more clarification.

I agree with Zach, the name is awesome. I also like your marketing ideas about running the ads during the upcoming Olympic games. Like Zack mentioned though, Kobe and David play different games. My suggestion would be to get some of Team U.S.A.'s athletes to endorse the shoe. If you did use Kobe or David, I would have a basketball and soccer version of the shoe as well as the off season training shoe. Other than that I like the idea.

THE NAME IS PERFECT! I LIKE THE IDEA OF GLOW IN THE DARK SHOES. A GREAT SAFETY FEATURE FOR ALL AGES DURING A WORKOUT OUTDOORS.WHEN YOU WEAR THESE SHOES YOU WILL STAND OUT FROM THE AVERAGE CROWD.

I love the idea that the shoe glows as you run. Not only is it an important safety feature but it seems very futuristic. As for the advertising, having such great athletes endorse the shoe is the best way to ensure its success. I like zach's idea for the slogan that implies money and speed.

The name does it justice, but it would be kind of funny, if when they were wearing the shoe, they had a green glow or tint to them. I have the same question though, Kobe and David? If it was going to be advertised in the olympics, why not include olympic athletes wearing the shoe? Great idea though, its hard to tackle something in the athletic footwear department because people might already have a set shoe they like to stick too as well as other already competitive new shoes to go against.

I am not fond of the title but I am picking when it comes to names I think the name should stand out and really tell something about the owner of it. The Olympics is a god choice for promotion but endorsing Olympic athletics isn’t really popular. I suggest that play on the honor and glory of the games themselves and give your product a sense of that slice of life feel about the Olympics, something that is attainable instead of the reality of an Olympic athlete’s which is a lifetime of hard work they may not pay off.
